Townhouse in Guaro | 3 Bedrooms 1 Bathroom
CHARMING chocolate box town house
. Center of the white PUEBLO
. Walking distances shops and TAPAS bars
. TRADITIONAL Spanish Environment
. IMMERSE yourself
The location of this 100 year old townhouse is so central and quaint that one can instantly picture it to become a bodega - or chocolate shop for that matter.
Located a bit up from a main street, it has all the advantages of being central and not its disadvantages.
It's 100 steps to bar, tapa-cafeteria, post or grocery stores, and the lovely views and ambiance of the real Andalusia are all around you.
What with its history, always having belonged to a family of the village, the distribution of this very solid house is very Andalusian:
Via the front door you walk into the lounge for visitors.
On that ground floor there is an extra room that can either be used as real living room for the winter or as study or office (right now it is a bedroom).
The lounge leads to the kitchen which is a corridor that gives way to the patio, which is small and has a very private feel - and the patio leads to a cave-like space carved out of the hill of this hilltop village.
On the 1st floor you will find 2 spacious bedrooms and an equally spacious bathroom.
In one of the bedroom a staircase leads up to the roof top terrace, large enough for lounging or dining while looking out into the village or the hills beyond it.
As finishing touch, there's an extra room on this floor, that could be a guestroom or office.
Depending on your taste, the house needs some reform, or very much so if you are not a lover of the typical Andalusian family-home style.
In our opinion it is perfect for commerce while living there too, and for people who would love to immerse themselves in the Andalusian lifestyle.
Guaro is a white village, located on the edge of the Sierra de las Nieves natural park. Thanks to its elevated position, at over 350 metres above sea level, the village offers privileged views across the surrounding countryside.
The area is known for producing almonds and olives, which is an important part of the local economy. Guaro has it ́s own olive mill, where locals have their harvests pressed. On the Grapevine Properties Youtube channel, you find a video about this authentic mill and the harvest process of the locals.
The village of Guaro is also used as an Eastern base for access to the Sierra de las Nieves, where you have stunning nature hikes and adventurous activities. It is the ideal spot for outdoor lovers, which also offers a few famous cultural activities like the Luna Mora festival in September. Like many white villages in Andalucia, the village dates back to the Arabic occupation of Spain. Luna Mora, translated as Moorish Moon is an historic celebration with arts, crafts and music in the open air amphitheatre of the village. Throughout the evenings of the festival, there is a Moorish style street souk, and the entire village is illuminated by over 20.000 candles which is truly beautiful to experience! Each July the village celebrates its annual pilgrimage parade or ‘Romeria’ terminating at the tiny chapel of ‘Ermita del Santuario del Puerto’. Another typical Andalusian event, where everybody is welcome to join in.
Guaro is located 55 minutes (50 km.) from the city of Málaga and the airport and the beaches of the Costa del Sol (Marbella) are only a 35 minute (24 km.) drive away!
